Eighth Annual Axe-Throwing Fundraiser Brings Star Power to Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

Monday, November 18, 2024

Our eighth annual axe-throwing fundraiser hit the bullseye this past weekend! The Axe Pancreatic Cancer: All-Star Draft, presented by EY, brought together over 150 enthusiastic attendees and 15 celebrity all-star participants for an evening of excitement, competition, and community spirit during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

2024 marks a new twist on the annual event as teams fundraised to “draft” their favourite celebrity. Co-hosts Lainey Lui (etalk host and media personality) and Sean Cullen (actor/comedian) led the star-studded lineup, which included Damon Allen (CFL Hall of Famer), Billy Bridges (Paralympic sledge hockey player), Sebastian Clovis (media personality and contractor), Gavin Crawford (actor/comedian), Danko Jones (musician), Mike Krushelnyski (NHL alumni), Dennis Maruk (NHL alumni), Dave McLlwain (NHL alumni), Tig Notaro (actor/comedian), Andrew Phung (actor/comedian), Michelle Rabin (food stylist), Karen Robinson (actor), Sami Jo Small (Olympic Women’s hockey player), and Skye Wallace (musician).

Thanks to generous donors and spirited fundraising, the event raised an incredible $50,000 and counting, pushing its lifetime total to over $240,000. This remarkable achievement is proof that together we can change pancreatic cancer outcomes, one throw at a time.
